As our direct care staff work with youth that are 18-24 years old, we require that applicants are at least 25 years old.

House CA (CHC) is excited to announce the launch of its new transitional housing site in Hayward, CA, for youth experiencing homelessness. The staff at CHC Hayward will be part of a unique experience of being the first staff to ever work at the site, not only becoming a critical part of CHC’s history, but helping to develop a program that most effectively meets the needs of youth experiencing homelessness. The staff will draw upon CHC’s 30+ years of experience serving youth, ages 18-24, while developing unique programming and services to meet the unique needs of youth. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President (SVP), the Director of Residential Services will help to develop and will manage CHC’s new Hayward site Transitional House Program (TLP). The DOR supervises the staff, coordinates the programs, and manages the operations of the new Hayward housing program. The DOR will ensure the delivery of services to all residents in the TLP in accordance with the CHC’s mission statement, Five Principles, Code of Conduct and CHC Policies and Procedures. The DOR will supervise the Residential Manager, Case Managers, Community Involvement Coordinator and offer support to the direct care staff at the site. The Director will also be the primary contact and participate in local COC and CES systems, representing CHC in the community. The position is also responsible for promoting the development of life skills among TLP youth, tracking program outcomes and documentation, managing the program budget, ensuring adherence to federal and private funding guidelines, and being an ambassador of CHC with the community at large.

The DOR works in concert with CHC’s Executive and Development teams to ensure that the site and agency fundraising objectives are met, and that CHC becomes a key member of the community around the site. All staff on the leadership team at CHC are expected to roll up their sleeves and lead alongside their teams, to foster, train and support each staff around the relentless engagement of the young people we serve and the capacity to be innovative and stabilize a new program.

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Exempt, 40 hours per week

SALARY RANGE: $70k-$75k annually

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required (Masters strongly preferred) in field related to Human Services.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum (5) years’ supervisory experience. Minimum (5) years’ experience in residential, homeless services and/or mental health services.

SKILLS: Knowledge of adolescent development, case management, and crisis intervention. Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and strong computer skills. Public speaking skills and comfort in representing CHC in the community. Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work with other staff members, clients, vendors, and the public. Bilingual in Spanish a bonus.

TRANSPORTATION: Must have a valid California driver’s license and a good driving record and ability to drive CHC vehicles.

CONDITIONS: General business/office environment. Must be able to lift upwards to 40lbs. on occasion, bend, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. Some weekend/holiday work may be required.

SUPERVISORY: The position serves as direct supervisor to TLP Manager and case managers.

EQUIPMENT USED: Computers (including email), telephone and fax used on regular basis.
