JOB TITLE: Impact Program Coordinator 

STATUS: Non-exempt

Hiring range: 42,500-50,000 DOE

REPORTS TO: Drop-In Center Manager

Covenant House California-Oakland is seeking to hire a qualified program coordinator to be on our residential team at our crisis shelter and transitional living program. We are looking for applicants that have experience working with youth that have experienced homelessness, who have traumatic histories, identify as LGBTQ, are gender non-conforming and/or who often face multiple issues and have complex needs. This person will have knowledge and/or experience working with youth development programs, utilizing a harm reduction framework, using trauma informed practices and will value working with a multi-disciplinary team to create a safe inclusive environment for all.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Drop-In Center Manager, the Impact Program Coordinator will be responsible for program design and implementation for the newly developed Youth Impact Program at Covenant House Bay Area. This program was designed to assist at-risk youth, ages 15-24, to achieve their goals of independence and self-sufficiency by offering individual, group,and community services in the areas of employment, education, financial literacy, and emotional wellness. The Impact Program Coordinator will expect to engage in both coordination of the program as well as direct client services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide overall project management of this program, with a focus on building and implementing innovative curriculum to effectively move TAY youth to stability and success.

The Impact Program Coordinator will act as a liaison between Covenant House staff,contracted service providers, and volunteers, ensuring quality service integration.

2. Engage in outreach efforts to offer services to at-risk youth ages 15-24 outside of the Covenant House shelter program, establishing improved coordination and care across systems. Identify and develop critical partnerships with outside community agencies serving at-risk and homeless youth.

3. Oversee the intake process of clients into the Youth Impact Program; performing assessments, orientation, and data collection. Offer services to youth on the Covenant House shelter wait list to increase stability of youth living on the streets or not in shelter.

4. Offer individual case management services to program participants in areas of employment, education, and social service support.

5. Teach assigned job preparation curriculum in group and individual sessions.

6. Assist Community Involvement Coordinator in facilitating field trips to participating businesses, corporations and cultural events. Prioritize community engagement events that will increase community integration, improve youth opportunities, and build trust and respect across cohort.

7. Oversee “drop-in” hours for program participants at Covenant House Drop-In Center. Duties may include checking in participants, offering necessities such as food, clothing, and hygiene, and monitoring the overall safety of participants while onsite for activities.

8. Monitor program budget, supplies, and incentive programs.

9. Manage calendar of individual and group programming; maintain data entry, reporting, and scheduling as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required in field related to social services required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with at-risk youth.

SKILLS: Must have strong communication and organizational skills. Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, etc.) Must be a self-starter and team player with the ability to work with other staff members, youth, vendors and the public. A desire to build positive relationships with youth and an orientation towards strength-based positive youth development a must.

TRANSPORTATION: Must have valid CA Driver’s license and be able to drive residents to activities using CHC vans.

WORKING CONDITIONS: General business/office environment. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion, bend, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Some weekend/night/holiday work may be required. Full-Time 40 hours per week.
