Job Description for Clinical Director
This is an exempt, full-Time, 40 hrs per week position, which includes either a Saturday or Sunday.
As our direct care staff work with youth that are 18-24 years old,
we require that applicants are at least 25 years old.
Covenant House California is an affiliate of Covenant House International. Covenant House International has houses in more than 30 cities across the United States, Canada and Latin America. Our location here in Hollywood started as a team of volunteers in 1988 in Hollywood providing food, services, and a sense of being valued to youth on the streets. Their aim was to connect youth to a network of community resources with a goal of helping them move into stable housing situations.
After eight years of hard work, thanks to government funding, the donations of kind individuals, and support from foundations, CHC opened its Los Angeles Residential Center to provide the best services possible for Hollywood’s youth experiencing homelessness. The 36,000 square foot facility is located in Hollywood and features a Safe Haven Shelter with 60 beds, a Transitional Living Center with 24 beds, a medical clinic, cafeteria, and recreation space.

Applicants that have experience working with youth that have experienced homelessness, who have traumatic histories, identify as LGBTQ, are gender non-conforming and/or who often face multiple issues and have complex needs. Applicants with knowledge and/or experience working with youth development programs, utilizing a harm reduction framework, using trauma informed practices and will value working with a multi-disciplinary team to create a safe inclusive environment would be highly preferred.

Covenant House Oakland is seeking to hire a Clinical Director to provide 1:1 therapy to youth, clinical supervision and support to our case management services across residential programs, as well as the supervision of clinical interns. We are looking for applicants that have experience working with youth that have experienced homelessness, with traumatic histories, trafficked youth, identify as LGBTQ, are gender non-conforming and/or whom often face multiple issues and have complex needs. POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Director provides direct clinical leadership to the continuum of services we offer to our programs in Northern California. This would include providing clinical case management supervision, training and the direct service of therapy to youth in program and those on the street. The Clinical Director will work in collaboration with the other Program Directors to ensure that assessments, service planning, documentation and interdisciplinary teamwork to appropriately engage and work with the young people we serve. The Clinical Director will also work to enhance and specialize our work and programming for trafficked youth. The position also assists in supporting and ensuring that documentation, data tracking and reports for case management contracts and grants are prepared accurately and timely. The Clinical Director works with other CHC Directors on integration across all programs, sites and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology (or related field)
EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience in mental health, youth services and/or residential setting (preferably with runaway and homeless youth).
SKILLS: Clinical knowledge and skills working with homeless and trafficked youth 13-24. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team approach. Community resource expert. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
WORKING: 40 hours per week (100%-Full Time) confidential status, exempt status. Some overtime and after hours work is required as a condition of employment.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES: The position supervises the clinical positions on staff (2 part-time) and any MSW interns
And/or field placement students.
TRANSPORTATION: Must have a valid CA driver license, reliable transportation and a good driving record.
CONDITIONS: Sitting, standing, walking and driving.
EQUIPMENT USED: Computers, fax machines, telephones and other office equipment.
